THE INCIDENT COMMITTED BY EDI BAČIĆ AND INTRODUCTION TO THE OFFENSE (AND CRIMINAL) REPORT
against Edi Bačić, born in 1968, homeless, located in the Lodging for the homeless “St. Vinko Paulski”, Franje Tuđmana 24/0, 23000 Zadar
due to mental and physical violence, physical injury, threats, intrusive behavior, etc.

Dear Mrs. Tadić,

after I briefly informed you via a telephone conversation on June 11, 2023, about the incident committed by Edi Bačić, born in 1968, a homeless man housed in the “St. Vinko Paulski”, Franje Tuđmana 24/0, 23000 Zadar, on the specified date and at the specified address, I will also inform you in writing about the same in more detail.
Namely, half a year ago I contacted you on several occasions regarding metal wardrobe. I told you that I don’t have my own wardrobe and asked that the same be provided for me as for the other users of the Lodging, because my things (clothes and food) are placed on the floor, and Mr. Milko Klanac also complained to me that my things are standing on the way to the window, so he cannot reach the same in order to breathe fresh air when necessary, and similar remarks were made by Mr. Zvonko Martinović.
At that time, Mr. Milko Klanac complained to you and the police (also on several occasions) because his shoes worth around HRK 2,000 were missing, and I mentioned to you that perhaps I also have some items that I would like to protect because if there is a theft (no my fault), I don’t know who would be responsible for the alienation of my personal belongings in a situation where I wasn’t officially assigned a wardrobe, and most homeless people have their own wardrobe.
Namely, while some homeless people have two wardrobes, and some maybe even three, some have none, which is not only discriminatory, but also unethical and unchristian (and we are a Christian institution?!), and it is also against the Constitution of the Republic of Croatia under which we are all equal, as well as common sense and sound logic, and questions are asked: why so and why so?
As for the other homeless people who don’t have or who didn’t have their wardrobe, and they should have had it just like me, I know that Mr. Ivan Čutura from BIH also didn’t have his wardrobe even though he slept in a room with only two roommates, so, in addition to the six wardrobes none were assigned to Ivan Čutura.
Some users of the Lodging sleep in one room and use the wardrobe in another, which is why (in my opinion unjustified) they have to enter a room where they don’t sleep at all, which I don’t agree with and which is also against common sense, as there have been reports of theft on several occasions.
Regardless of you, several months ago I contacted some security guards at the Lodging, so they advised me to contact the People’s Kitchen at Mrs. Zdenka’s place, who should have contacted Mr. Tadija (janitor), who was supposed to “solve” one wardrobe so that it could be assigned for me.
So, I contacted both you and Ms. Zdenka several times, once and Mr. Tadija personally, but nothing regarding “my” problem was solved and I gave up, even though I did not agree that I have no right to what others users of the Accommodation have the right.
Namely, as far as I remember, it was someone’s idea (I can’t remember whose) that Mr. Tadija saw through a padlock (and/or chain), to empty someone’s belongings from the wardrobe and transfer the belongings from it into a bag, but it was you who didn’t agree because you said that it is a criminal offense and that the user whose goods are in the closet can complain that there was money in his wallet that was stolen, etc.
I found out that the wardrobe that Tadija was supposed to “solve” in my favor is actually the one used by Edi Bačić, a man who has been in prison on several occasions and spent, as he claims, more than two years in prison and that because of a conflict with with his brother around the house, etc.
So the situation is more than absurd. In the Caritas Shelter for the homeless “St. Vinko Paulski”, a “user” who was actually in prison for a long time, Edi Bačić, used at least two closets (and from prison?!), and at the same time someone else couldn’t use even one because he had usurped them? This means that a person who commits criminal acts for which he is in prison can “by law” use two or more lockers, while another user of the Lodging (in this case my little one) cannot use even one because Edi Bačić is in prison, and it is illegal put his things in a bag, and it’s not illegal that I don’t have my own locker and that some things can be stolen from me for that reason, and apparently no one cares that some users of the Lodging often object to me because Caritas didn’t assign me a locker, so it bothers them my clothes on the floor?
Edi Bačić returned from prison to Lodging more than four months ago, but no one remembered to solve the problem with the closets. Is it perhaps because no one wanted to mess with the appointed or is it about something else?
This is definitely someone’s failure, that is, the failure of Caritas, and unfortunately the government authorities of the Republic of Croatia will have to deal with it. I warned about certain omissions in time, but apparently nobody cared.
I would like to point out that, in my opinion, due to the negligence of Caritas, Vili Vukić, a Croatian veteran and volunteer, was left without a place to stay in the middle of winter, and he was freezing for months, and apparently no one really cared. And all this because of the false report of Stjepan Vuković for the alleged beating.
Dear Mrs. Tadić, you stated in front of HRT journalists that there are no problems with the homeless in Lodging, which I disagreed with, and then HRT covered up the whole story, obviously along political lines. Moreover, the journalist Žana Ljuština rudely blocked calls from my mobile phone even though there was no reason for such behavior, while no one from HRT Zadar center answered my calls after I requested an interview with the manager Ante Kolanović and after I was told that the appointee is not in his office.
Some things haven’t been resolved even to this day. I’m specifically talking about closets, and I don’t want to bring up some other irregularities on this occasion. As you know, each room in the Lodging has 6 beds and 6 closets. Therefore, each user of the Lodging should have one locker, the one next to his bed, and not to use several lockers and to use a locker that is not next to his bed.
So, two users who sleep on the beds next to the window should each have one locker next to the window. Two users whose beds are located in the middle of the room should each have one locker in the middle. And two people whose beds are located next to the door should each have one locker next to the door. A very plain and simple thing.
The Lodging currently has ten users, but two lockers should be free at any time because any new user who might come to the Lodging should have a locker secured in advance, and not have to fight for it with ex-prisoners like Edi Bačić and who knows which other “faces” and that because of that he unnecessarily gets into conflicts and risks health and life.
Namely, as I have already informed you, today, June 11, 2023, an incident took place in Lodging between 7:10 and 7:15 in the morning. The incident was preceded by mental harassment by Edi Bačić, who obviously was bothered by my presence in the room, and this often happened for at least a month, while it continued to happen for months.
Namely, Edi Bačić simply “forces” me into another room, even though I already have my own bed, the one assigned to me by Caritas, not the one I personally chose or usurped. Edi Bačić tells me that I am better off in the other room because I will have my locker there.
Bačić has been acting in such a way for some time that he moves my things (clothes and food) to another position, and even some other users of the Lodging (roommates) are protesting about it.
Namely, Edi Bačić is bothered by my things because they are placed in front of “his” locker. And in fact, he is the one who uses several lockers (including mine), so there is no question of my things being an obstacle for him to use a locker that is not his, but on the contrary, he hangs around my bed, which is placed next to the window, while his bed placed next to the door. And that’s only because he illegally took the locker that I was supposed to use since it’s next to my bed. Or maybe it was given to him by Caritas?! And that to him, Edi Bačić, even during the time he was in prison and even afterwards?!
So, the ex-prisoner resents it because he is bothered by my belongings, which are actually placed in a closet that, according to the law of logic, should have been mine. So where is this?
And for the same reason, this same Bačić has been psychologically abusing me for months?! If you didn’t know, violence is not only physical, but it can also be: psychological, sexual, economic… Psychological violence includes: constant criticizing, humiliation, verbal abuse, jealousy, isolation from the environment, controlling, blackmailing, threats, intimidation, shifting blame etc., and Bačić violated some of these items, and that is not only for a verbal warning, but according to the law of the Republic of Croatia, for prison.
Instead of being satisfied that he is back from prison and finally has his freedom, Edi is bothered by me, so he wants to “place” me in another room so that he can use a locker that doesn’t belong to him undisturbed, and he is bothered by things from the user (me) whose locker actually “borrowed”?! Earth, open up!!!
And after Edi Bačić’s nagging, around 7 o’clock in the morning on June 11, 2023 (today), I politely told him to contact the right address, aiming at your address, Mrs. Tadić.
