HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS CONTINUE: A

COMMITMENT THAT ENDURES AS LON

AS THERE IS A FAMILY IN NEED

La Guaira, Venezuela – July 2026

From the very first moment the earthquake struck Venezuela, our commitment has been to stand alongside the victims and all those who, with courage and resilience, have faced one of the most painful tragedies in the country’s recent history, with the state of La Guaira being the region most severely affected.

Throughout the search and rescue operations, we accompanied and supported the efforts that led to the successful rescue of one child and nine adults, while also assisting in the recovery of numerous victims located in different affected buildings. We also never forgot the pets that remained trapped beneath the rubble, recognizing that they, too, are part of the families now enduring this immense loss.

The search for the victims—both those who were still hoped to be found alive and those who tragically lost their lives as a result of the earthquake—has been a continuous effort carried out day and night without interruption. Every rescue and recovery operation has pursued the same purpose: to provide answers to families, return their loved ones, and ensure that every victim receives a dignified farewell and the burial they deserve. Behind every recovered victim were countless hours of dedication, sacrifice, hope, and profound respect for human life, dignity, and every family’s right to say goodbye to their loved ones.

Furthermore, one of my primary responsibilities during this emergency has been to keep my telephone line open at all times to receive calls from citizens and relatives reporting locations where there was still hope of finding survivors. Every call was handled with the utmost seriousness and immediately relayed to the search and rescue teams, who provided their unwavering support from the very beginning of the emergency. This constant coordination made it possible to channel valuable information, direct resources toward the reported locations, and strengthen search operations with the sole purpose of saving lives and providing answers to families awaiting news of their loved ones.

Our work has extended far beyond the disaster zone. From the city of Miami, we have led a significant international humanitarian relief operation by coordinating the delivery of assistance through private flights and supporting large-scale airlift operations, including a Boeing 767 loaded with medical supplies, medications, emergency equipment, and essential relief items. At the same time, we have coordinated the shipment of humanitarian aid containers by sea to the communities most affected by the disaster.

However, we want to make one message absolutely clear: our mission is not over.

From the very first moment of this emergency until today, we continue working to bring hope, assistance, and support to those who need it most. The reconstruction of La Guaira will be a long and challenging process, and our commitment will remain steadfast throughout that journey.

I reaffirm my commitment to continue working alongside government authorities, humanitarian organizations, volunteers, and citizens to advance initiatives that contribute to the recovery and rebuilding of the affected communities.

In the coming days, I will travel to Venezuela to assess the needs firsthand, listen to the affected communities, and continue promoting new humanitarian assistance, recovery, and reconstruction initiatives.

My deepest gratitude goes to all the national and international organizations that participated in the rescue efforts; to the firefighters, Civil Protection personnel, public safety officials, medical teams, volunteers, specialized rescue workers, heavy equipment operators, and especially to the owners of the machinery who generously placed their equipment at the service of the search and recovery operations.

Solidarity knows no borders.

Hope remains alive.

And Venezuela is not alone.
